About the National Serro Scotty Organization
This site began as personal Web pages of Nancy Kroes, a Serro Scotty owner since 2004. Nancy, a Webmaster at Western Michigan University, started the site as a way to keep resources easily accessible for herself. Finding the site very useful, she decided to go public with it in 2004.
The National Serro Scotty Organization (NSSO) was formed in 2005. Many of the founding members of the NSSO had belonged to a Yahoo group, originated in New England in the late 1990's. That group, still in existence, was fraught with strife and discontent. Things came to a head after the 2005 Rally in Slippery Rock, PA when members who attended the rally were informed they could not decide to camp together without the New England members first voting on it. Those who objected to this outrageous demand were booted from the Yahoo group. Undeterred, members quickly formed the NSSO with the clear understanding that all members may camp whenever, wherever, and with whomever they want. There is no voting. There are no chapters and there are no wagonmasters. Open invitations to our campouts, gatherings, and rallys are extended to all in our online monthly newsletter.
We are a strong network of vintage trailer aficionados with hundreds of members in nearly every state and in Canada and Germany. Regional campouts are planned and hosted by members and their families throughout the United States, and a National Rally is held each summer - where it all began, in Pennsylvania. This group has rapidly become the premiere resource for anyone restoring and/or rebuilding their Serro Scotty or other vintage trailer. We are a versatile group of hobbyists who enjoy connecting with our fellow owners and campers.
Our goal is to share collected wisdom, pool resources to help each other out, treat each other with dignity and respect, and to exist in peace and harmony. In other words, to be good neighbors, both in the campground and online.
