Ronnie Moon's Mini-split tongue-mount A/C Solution

I used a Pioneer® 12,000 BTU 19.5 SEER 115V Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioner Heat Pump System Full Set with 16 Ft lines for around $718.00 installed in a 1975 18' Sportsman Hi-Lander Trunkback.

  • The previous owner had removed all propane items from the tongue which freed up the tongue space for me to use for outside unit.
  • I installed an AC shutoff breaker and power to new 30amp breaker box.
  • I sacrificed one overhead cabinet door over the dinette for the inverter mount.
  • I ran the 16 ft copper pipes through the overhead cabinet and down a PVC board channel that I made thru the magazine rack and under the bench seat and cut a hole in the floor for a PVC pipe to feed in the copper lines, power to inverter from outside unit and drain pipe for water.
  • Note, due to the low position of the water drain on the back of the inverter, I had to build the sloping PVC board box to mount under the front overhead cabinet.
  • Thanks to Wanda's brother for help on Sat to help connect the copper lines and evacuate the moisture and then we fired it up!  It is so quiet and efficient and will cool the space down in minutes.
  • I love the Pioneer remote control!
