Classic Trailer Specialists Incorporated
When the construction recession hit Up North (Michigan), Tim and Tansa Hastert, who'd lost their jobs in the recession, didn't let that stand in their way. They began restoring vintage travel trailers; first at their home, and then when business picked up, in a big old building on M-66 in East Jordan. Now, business is booming and they have several employees and have grown well beyond their initial space in the big old building.
Nancy Kroes, owner of the National Serro Scotty Organization, from Delton, Michigan, took a day off in January to meet Tim and Tansa and tour their remarkable facility up in East Jordan.
Tim and Tansa specialize in pre-1970 travel trailers.
Behind this innocuous door is where it all takes place!

a 1977, shop owned, looking for a new owner
These trailers are all in shop right now, getting rebuilt to the new owners' specifications. Having rebuilt several trailers myself, I know the owners will be happy with the quality of work that Tim and Tansa put into their rebuilds. Top notch, all the way.
This is a pretty typical interior - when a trailer comes into the shop.
These trailers are in the completed trailer storage area, just waiting to be picked up by their happy new owners. Since our visit, the Yellowstone sale fell through and it is again available.
Look at that beautiful floor. Whatever the new owner wants, they get!
More trailers awaiting their turn in the shop for restoration
One of the coolest original floors I've ever seen!
And, even more trailers sitting on the lot awaiting a sale and a turn in the shop for a makeover
This beautiful Detroiter is in the shop, currently being used by Tansa as her office, but for sale. I can just see this beauty as a weekend getaway sitting along a river or a lake or in the woods. Needs some work now, but the bones are there and with Tim and Tansa's superior work, it will be better than new!
Time to end the tour, but we shall keep up with Tim and Tansa on Facebook.
