1953 GM Futurliner

This was Futurliner #10 of 12 made. GM developed the Futurliners as part of a group of nearly 50 vehicles thata toured the country from coast to coast in the 40s and the 50s. Futurliners were designed to display the modern marvels of the tim, such as microwave ovens, jet engines, stereophonic sound and television, along with many other advances in science and technology. The tours were teminated in 1956.

Number 10 was rebuilt over the course of seven years by more than 30 volunteers under direction of Don Mayton of Beaverton, Michigan. It is now owned by the National Automotive and Truck Museum of the United States located in Auburn, Indiana. It now tours the country, making appearances at auto shows and special events.
