NATIONAL SERRO SCOTTY ORGANIZATION NEWS

We will tour the Appalacian Trail Museum when we camp at Pine Grove Furnace next week. The Museum is located on the edge of the park, as is an entry onto the Appalacian Trail which many of us plan to hike at least a short bit on.

In October we will camp on Lake Ontario and take in the sights at Niagara Falls. This is the final great lake for NSSO camp-outs. We have previously camped on Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and the biggest of all, Lake Superior. In 2020 we will also camp Lake Michigan and Lake Huron again!

This is Pikes Peak, Iowa. The campground is on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. We camp here in May, 2020.

Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. We will not be camping in the NP next June, but nearby and from where we will make visits to the NP. This is just one of the falls located in the park.

In September 2020 we return to the Adirondacks. One of the events we shall partake in is the annual Adirondacks Antique Fair which is held in neighboring towns of Blue Mountain Lake and Indian Lake. So much cool stuff!

A second camping stop after we leave the Adirondacks is Letchworth State Park in New York. This is an easily accessible hiking trail to visit Lower Falls. There are also Middle Falls and Upper Falls, both of which can be hiked to and viewed. Letchworth is known as the Grand Canyon of the East and a lot of the stonework here was done in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corp. There is a memorial to the CCC located in the park.

Lake Huron from Alpena, Michigan. This is the second stop of our three-stop great lakes tour in October, 2020.
