Scottys in Savannah, GA - Dec. 27-29, 2009

Mabel is heading south over the holidays and included in the trip is 2 nights at Savannah South KOA. This campground is conveniently located near I-95 and Hwy 17, at the south side of Savannah. We'll be hitting our old stomping grounds on River Street - cool shops and the port of Savannah. Best pecan pralines in the world at River Street Sweets. We'll also hit Tybee Island to walk on the beach - perhaps climb the lighthouse (the view is worth the climb), tour Ft. Pulaski, a civil war era earthen works fort which has been restored and is very cool. You can hike down to the river (that's the Savannah River, the state line between GA and SC) and see hundreds of hermit crabs. And, what visit to Savannah is complete without sampling fresh seafood, especially shrimp. We plan to hit Uncle Bubba's (Paula Deen's brother) on Whitemarsh Island - I hear the shrimp and grits is to die for!

Nancy and Mabel have booked two nights, Sunday, 12/27 and Monday, 12/28. We will leave on the morning of the 29th to head to St. Augustine, FL. Please let Nancy and Mabel know if you book for this campout...
