Acadia National Park (Maine) - 9/8 to 9/12/2011

The NSSO will hit Acadia National Park on Mt. Dessert Island in Maine just after Labor Day in 2011. There are two campgrounds within the park, but they don't have electrical connections. Instead we will camp at Smuggler's Den Campground, which is on the island, but next to, not within the park. It has connections and is close enough to partake of park activities.

Nancy and Mabel will be taking a side trip up to Eastport, ME. Eastport is a small city consisting entirely of islands. The principal island is Moose Island, which is connected to the mainland by causeway. Eastport is the easternmost city in the continental United States (although nearby Lubec is the easternmost municipality). Nancy and Mabel, avid mystery readers, read a series that is set in Eastport and written by an author who lives there, Sarah Graves, Home Repair is Homicide series.

As of January, 2011, we have been in contact with the campground. Rain of Smuggler's Den has pencilled us in at the electric spots shown as the squares on the map below. Reservations can be made 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday by calling, toll free, 1 (877) 244-9033. Ask for Rain - she's our contact there for this event.
